February Microadventure - wildlife!

2/28/2015

The microadventure set by one of my friends this month was to spot some wildlife! During the year due to being located in a lovely rural setting, I can see everything from deer, badgers, grass snakes to green woodpeckers and pheasants. The wildlife in my immediate local area seemed to be in hiding or hibernation this month but I was fortunate to make spottings of several foxes, squirrels and a Great Tit.

I also managed to catch up on a #microadventure sleep out under the stars in my new bivvy!

A wet January afternoon at Batemans

On the last day of January, with a friend visiting from London, but born in Mumbai, it seemed appropriate for us to visit Batemans, the home of Rudyard Kipling from 1902-36.
Not discouraged by the cold and wet weather we made the short journey through Burwash to the property now owned by the National Trust. The house was built in 1634. The rooms are as they were when the house was inhabited by the Kipling family and contains many of Rudyard Kipling's items collected during his travels. Links to India are a regular theme.
Following a walk around the house, grounds, including the mill, the afternoon was topped off with a well deserved cream tea, Earl Grey and scrumptious cake!
